Oops, We Did It Again

5 Things We Loved About Our 25th Wedding Anniversary Vow Renewal at Sandals Royal Barbados

Celebrating 25 years of marriage felt like something truly worth honoring—and renewing our vows in Barbados was the perfect way to do it. What made it even more meaningful was how effortless, joyful, and beautifully us the entire experience felt. Here are the five things we loved most about our vow renewal at Sandals Royal Barbados.

1. Pre-Planning That Took All the Stress Away

One of the biggest gifts of this experience was knowing everything was handled before we ever arrived. From ceremony details to timelines, Sandals made the planning process simple and reassuring. Instead of worrying about logistics, we were able to focus on what mattered most—celebrating our marriage and being present for the moment. Arriving knowing the details were already in place allowed us to relax from day one.

2. Our Pre-Ceremony Meeting (and Cake Tasting!)

Before the ceremony, we met with our on-site wedding coordinator to finalize the last details. This meeting was thoughtful, unrushed, and personal—exactly what you want when planning something meaningful. We chose our ceremony location together, walked through how the day would unfold, and yes… sampled cake flavors. It was such a fun and grounding moment that made the ceremony feel real and uniquely ours.

3. A Truly Perfect Ceremony

From start to finish, the ceremony was everything we hoped for—and more. Riding in the wedding chariot to the ceremony location felt both romantic and celebratory. The wedding pavilion was stunning, providing a beautiful backdrop for such a special milestone. Repeating the vows we first said 25 years ago was emotional in the best way, and our first dance, the flowers, the cake, and every small detail came together seamlessly. It felt intentional, elegant, and deeply meaningful.

4. Photography & Video Around the Resort

One of our favorite highlights was how much fun we had capturing photos and video around the resort. Sandals Royal Barbados offers so many gorgeous settings—from beachfront views to modern architecture and tropical gardens. These images don’t just document a ceremony; they tell the story of who we are now, 25 years later, and preserve memories we’ll treasure forever.

5. Celebrating with an Incredible Dinner & Floating Breakfast

That evening, we enjoyed a special anniversary dinner at La Parisienne—an elegant, romantic way to close out such a meaningful day. It wasn’t our first choice, but the weather didn’t cooperate for our beachfront candlelight dinner, so the resort made sure we still had a wonderful dinner that evening. And the celebration didn’t stop there. The next morning, we had a floating breakfast delivered to our swim-up suite, which felt like the perfect, peaceful way to savor the moment and reflect on everything we had just experienced together.

Looking Back

Our vow renewal wasn’t about recreating our wedding day—it was about honoring everything that came after it. The challenges, the growth, the joy, and the life we’ve built together. It gave us space to reflect, reconnect, and celebrate in a way that felt deeply personal.

It’s an experience we’ll always look back on with gratitude and remember as one of the most meaningful ways we’ve celebrated our marriage.
